Project Overview

Hope Cove, South Hams. Devon:

Demolished 80% of the existing house and rebuilt the property on a new footprint

The ground floor was formed from a traditional masonry construction with timber floors , under floor heating and steel framing to give a large kitchen diner and living room space overlooking the beach at Hope Cove

The first floor was constructed from timber frame and clad in Larch

The remaining portions of the existing building were extensively renovated including underfloor heating and upgrading the insulation with a new roof to match the newly built extension

Due to the location of the property there is potential for flooding. We had to install a large soakaway to allow for the access surface water in the event of flooding. The soakaway is 80% of the garden and at a depth of 2.5m. This proved to be very difficult to install due to access and the volume of material needed to be removed and installed within the construction.

When finished the property now has 5 double bedrooms, 3 ensuites, 1 master bathroom, groundfloor shower, toilet, TV room, utility, kitchen diner & living room

Value: £460,000

Architect: MP2 Design Architects
